There are many brands of special nail clippers for your dog – some are a better quality than others. There are basically two styles of clippers – the guillotine style or a flat scissor style which come in a small size for a smaller sized dog or large sizes for the larger sized dog with tougher nails. Personally, I find the scissor style nail clippers to be the easiest to use but you will need to decide which clippers suit you best.
Guillotine Dog Nail Clippers
Some of these dog nail clippers are available now with ergonomically designed handles so they are not difficult to use and there are some clippers which have a guide or sensor which helps you to assess whether you are trimming your dogs nails too short or not – refer to clipping your dog’s nails. Whatever style of dog nail clippers you decide upon make sure you get a good quality pair and these should last a long time. Gripsoft Nail Clippers have a soft rubber handle which makes holding the tool very comfortable and easy to trim your dog’s nails. These guillotine clippers just come in one size for all dogs.

Scissor Nail Clippers
The scissor type nail clippers are just like using a pair of scissors. This style of nail clipper has a metal cutting guard which can help prevent the nail being cut too short. Gripsoft also have a large scissor nail clipper for dogs with larger, thicker nails and a medium scissor size nail clipper which is great for smaller dogs with small, thin nails. These are my personal preference.
